Here’s a little secret about me… I have always loved photography. I have always loved being a photographer. But being a Virginia Beach photographer has won my heart over.

Why you ask? well, here are just a few reasons why this location is prime real estate for photography:

Variety of Natural Backdrops

This one is a big one for those couples who want their photos to have nature incorporated into them! Here in Virginia Beach and the surrounding area, we have so many beautiful options! I could photograph a beach session one evening and be out in the country photographing a rustic wedding the next day. We also have some amazing parks, cityscapes, and fields… the options are limitless! I can’t forget to mention those beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the water – I can only hope my photos do them justice as to how beautiful they truly are!

The Weather

Hampton Roads offers some gorgeous, sunny weather throughout the year, which provides me with many opportunities to bring families out onto the beach for their portraits.  But even on rainy or grey days, there is a certain amount of beauty to cloudy and moody backdrops the weather might throw our way.  One thing that I was missing while living in San Diego was the right “weather.”   72 and sunny is wonderful — if you don’t enjoy change or variety.  I’m not going to lie, the predictability was nice, but I love a good storm every now and then. Added bonus: we can enjoy all 4 seasons here in the 757!

The Southern Hospitality

Did you know that people are generally more friendly and pleasant in the South?  They don’t call it “Southern Hospitality” for nothin’! I love how kind people are to one another and people are generally quick to say “yes please” and “no ma’am”. I love me some good manners!

I’ve also found that the people in the wedding industry in Hampton Roads are a joy to work with. It makes the wedding network so invaluable when other vendors (party planners, florists, make-up artists) are kind to others who are dealing with the same, or similar, clients. And most importantly, it makes for a great experience for the bride and groom when we all get along!

The One-of-a-Kind Venues

Sometimes my clients have a venue in mind when they come to me for photography services… but sometimes they want my suggestions (and trust me, I’ve got a ton!). Virginia Beach and the surrounding areas are certainly not lacking in beautiful venues.  I have an ever growing list of favorites, along with my bucket list I previously mentioned on the blog!
